Bum-Bum Rub
13th November 2008
I don’t have any pictures of Tubby & Winnie together. That’s because when I initially got Winnie & tried to introduce Winnie & Tubby together, I did it the wrong way (despite the fact that it was the way Winnie’s breeder considered to be the ‘right’ way). Because of that, they aren’t able to get along until today. Doesn’t mean that I’ve given up, I’m still trying.
I’m trying this new thing, I call it the bum-bum rub. That’s not a technical term, but basically I rub Tubby’s bum onto Winnie’s, so that they’re used to each other’s scent. I’ve gotten bitten by the chins while doing this .. not sure if that’s an indication that they’re nervous, annoyed, or a combination of both. But I just think this picture is cute. Although you can’t tell from the picture, Tubby is actually heavier & bigger than Winnie .. maybe because Winnie is white, he’s sort of camouflaged against the wall

I love this picture!! They seem OK with the bum bum rub this time
We do that with bunnies too.. well, we don’t rub their bums together hehe but we rub our hands thoroughly into one bunnies fur, then rub the other bunny the same way, then rub that first bunny.. to get their scents on each other.
Are Winnie and Tubby better with each other now after the bum treatments?
P/S: Yup, only bananas make my bunnies’ bum twitch.. nothing else has the same effect on them lol!

Unfortunately, no .. I don’t think this bum-bum rub method is doing so well.
When I do this, Winnie would bite my hand & Tubby will try his best to squirm his way out.
I want them to be friends, because I know they’ll do better with a buddy to cuddle & play with.

Thanks (about you learning a lot about chins from my blog )
I noticed that there aren’t many blogs about chinchillas.
Most of the blogs about small animals are on hamsters or rabbits.
