Puberty?

I’ve been meaning to upload the videos that I took with my phone. One of them is of Winnie, ehem, cleaning himself. I assure you that Winnie didn’t ‘perform’ on my hand. I’ve trained him so that he doesn’t play with my hand anymore. A quick warning, the content of this video might be a bit offensive and can’t be viewed by immature chinnies :-)

    All my male hamsters do it too. We call it the ‘pink stick’. Hahaha.

    Yea I read that male hamsters do that, too.
    But I never see my male Syrians clean themselves!

    It works! I just watched the video :D I didn’t know chins clean themselves that way.. does that mean that you won’t need to perform the hair ring check/removal for him, since he cleans himself?

    Well, I make sure that the chins regularly clean themselves.
    If I notice that they don’t clean themselves as often, then it might be a sign that their penises are stuck because of hair rings.

    Hmm.. how do we get chins to clean themselves? Sorry for the endless questions, I’m filing all these useful tips away until the time comes when I can finally get some chins :D

    Have you seen hamsters clean themselves?
    I don’t think we can teach chins to clean themselves; it’s just something natural that they do.
    They clean themselves almost everyday (if not, every other day).
    If you start noticing that they don’t, you might have to check that they don’t have fur rings around their private parts.
    And that can be tricky, because some chins can tolerate you trying to squeeze their private parts, some don’t.

    Hehe! When we first thought of getting chins and after reading up about chin care, we decided that we’ll settle with a pair of females. Why? Cos my husband doesn’t want to ‘violate’ male chins.. he said he’d never recover if anyone did that to him, lol :p
