Summer Goodness – Cilantro
22nd July 2009
Since it’s summer, I’ve been keeping a vegetable garden growing all sorts of things. One of the things I’m growing is cilantro & my cilantros are going crazy! They keep going to seed every week & I have to keep trimming them. That’s surely a good thing for the hamsters

To see how the garden has progressed throughout the summer, see here.
ps: the chinchillas also like cilantros, but they like them slightly crispy & dry.

Oh gosh Ippo, I am green with envy over your lush summer harvest! XD brocoli, marigold, cilantro (looks a bit like dill to me), beetroot leaves…woah! I live in an apartment so I can only grow some simple herbs in pots … tried growing some coriander before but I failed. Green fingers, I have not! lol ;p

I thought I didn’t have green fingers either!
My previous attempts to grow herbs in pots failed.
But when I found out that my apartment complex is having a community garden, I transferred my wilting potted herbs to the garden bed, & they thrive
I think having potted plants are tricky, because if the soil packs hard, that’s when it’s trouble for the plants.
My cilantro looks like dill because it’s flowering, that’s why the leaves are thinner (the plant is conserving its energy for the flowers, hence smaller leaves).
