Puberty?

I’ve been meaning to upload the videos that I took with my phone. One of them is of Winnie, ehem, cleaning himself. I assure you that Winnie didn’t ‘perform’ on my hand. I’ve trained him so that he doesn’t play with my hand anymore. A quick warning, the content of this video might be a bit offensive and can’t be viewed by immature chinnies :-)

Tubby Peed on Me!

Yes he did!

I was cleaning the bottom shelf of Tubby’s cage with Tubby still on the upper shelf when I started feeling something warm trickling down my forehead … Tubby had peed on me!

It was gross! I had to wash my hair for the second time today.

Nevertheless, I still love Tubby :-D

Return After Holiday

Returned to Stateside on Wednesday, but didn’t reach home until Thursday. It was nice to see all the animals again! I was busy cleaning, unpacking, cleaning, and more unpacking.

I bought a bunch of treats from the Tiny Island. I bought this lavender dust bath for the hammies, but they didn’t know what to do with it!! Instead, they just peed in it 0_o
They love the new treats though! I also bought this new wooden box where I put treats in it and the hammies have to figure out how to open it & get to the treats. So far, only Brain figured out how to open the box. The Robos only bit the wooden box and the Syrians are completely clueless. The (hired) petsitter didn’t know that my hammies like to hoard food. So, she kept refilling their food bowls thinking that they’re running out of food! But when I was cleaning their cages, I found food hidden inside the beddings .. that’s why Brain, Dee Dee, the Robos, and the Syrians all gained weight.

Sad news for Tubby though .. I think I’ve spoiled him with 30 minutes+ daily of out-of-the-cage playtime. When I was gone, he was down to 15 minutes for every 2 days. Even though I filled his cage with apple sticks & perches, lava ledge, lots of hay, & other chew things, he must have been bored out of his mind. He chewed off some of the fur on his tail, leaving a bald patch :-(

I’ve been playing with him a lot since I got home and I’m not going to leave Tubby for that long again ..

ps: Winnie is fine and dandy though. Maybe because he’s used to not being let out at all from his days at the breeder.

Human Climbing Ladder

That’s what I am to Tubby. When I let him out, he loves to climb all over me; when I’m sitting on a chair, he’d use my legs to get up to my lap; he would use my shoulder to get to taller places. At least that shows that he’s comfortable with me.

Stuck

Chinchillas are funny animals. Even though they look fluffy, their bodies are actually quite small underneath all that fur. So, imagine what tight spaces they can fit in. Tubby once escaped & hid inside the futon. I didn’t realize he could fit inside the futon until I heard some chewing noises.

When this happened, I thought it was really funny. But when I saw the picture, it looks somewhat abusive :-( Well, I let Winnie out & had the playpen gate up. He was trying to escape .. & look what happened! You can tell he was frustrated, because there’s a poop coming out of his butt (look closely for something black in his bottom)

Tubby Has a Fetish

For socks!!

Normally, I don’t have socks on. But since it’s getting cold lately, I wear socks. I thought that it’s a coincidence that Tubby tends to hump my feet only when I have socks on. So, I did a mini experiment. First, I would not have socks on & give Tubby my feet. He just ignored my feet. The second time, I had socks on & offered Tubby my feet … he humped it right away!! And he even came back for repeats! But I wouldn’t let him haha!

Bum-Bum Rub

I don’t have any pictures of Tubby & Winnie together. That’s because when I initially got Winnie & tried to introduce Winnie & Tubby together, I did it the wrong way (despite the fact that it was the way Winnie’s breeder considered to be the ‘right’ way). Because of that, they aren’t able to get along until today. Doesn’t mean that I’ve given up, I’m still trying.

I’m trying this new thing, I call it the bum-bum rub. That’s not a technical term, but basically I rub Tubby’s bum onto Winnie’s, so that they’re used to each other’s scent. I’ve gotten bitten by the chins while doing this .. not sure if that’s an indication that they’re nervous, annoyed, or a combination of both. But I just think this picture is cute. Although you can’t tell from the picture, Tubby is actually heavier & bigger than Winnie .. maybe because Winnie is white, he’s sort of camouflaged against the wall :-)

Howl-o-ween Weekend

I was thinking about dressing the chins for Halloween, but I knew that wasn’t going to work out too well. The last time I tried dressing Tubby, he just wanted to chew the hat off haha! Then, I bought a sweater which was meant to be for a teacup dog, but small enough for the chins. I tried it on Tubby, he wouldn’t have any of it & kept squirming to get out of the sweater. That wasn’t pretty & some of his fur slipped too :-(

Winnie was much calmer when getting into the sweater, but the sleeves are too big for him haha!

O well, with such soft fur, who needs to cover them up anyway?
